Our Honest Beloved Playa Mujeres Review: Is It Worth the Hype?

If you’re searching for the best adults-only all-inclusive resorts in Playa Mujeres, you’ve probably stumbled upon Beloved Playa Mujeres by Excellence Resorts. Marketed as a luxurious, boutique-style haven for couples, this resort is often recommended for romantic getaways, anniversaries, and honeymoons.

We recently spent 5 nights at Beloved Playa Mujeres (October 2023) to celebrate our anniversary. While the resort had some clear highlights, there were also a few disappointing moments we didn’t expect at a property of this caliber.

Location & Ambiance: Is Beloved Playa Mujeres Peaceful?

Beloved Playa Mujeres is nestled in the serene Playa Mujeres area, north of Cancun, known for its pristine beaches and tranquil waters. The resort’s smaller size typically means fewer crowds and a peaceful atmosphere—perfect for romantic escapes.

However, during our stay, ongoing restaurant renovations created noise disturbances throughout the day. This detracted from the serene vibe we anticipated.

Rating: ★★★☆☆ (7/10)

Accommodations: Our Ocean-View Suite Experience

We stayed in an Ocean-View Suite, featuring:

• King-sized bed

• Jacuzzi tub for two

• Private balcony

• Fully stocked minibar

While the room itself was beautifully designed, its location next to a construction area and noisy neighbors led to several sleepless nights. Despite notifying the front desk multiple times, management did little to resolve the issue.

Dining Experience: Limited Options, But Tasty Highlights

Dining is a major consideration when booking an all-inclusive resort. Unfortunately, during our visit, only 3 out of the resort’s 5 restaurants were open. This left us dining at the same venues repeatedly, which felt repetitive over five nights.

However, one bright spot was the taco food truck, offering some of the best casual bites we enjoyed throughout the trip!

Entertainment & Resort Activities

Beloved Playa Mujeres offers a variety of activities and nightly entertainment, including:

• Fitness center

• Water sports & poolside games

• Evening shows (magic acts, live bands)

A heads-up: if your room is located near the main entertainment areas, nighttime music can be quite loud.

Service & Staff: Mixed Impressions

Most of the staff members we interacted with were friendly and professional. A special mention goes to Alberto, our attentive beach server. Unfortunately, after our stay, we learned he had moved to another property.

While individual staff members shined, management’s handling of noise complaints and room issues was underwhelming.
