Savannah Georgia Getaway: A Budget-Friendly Long Weekend Guide

Are you dreaming of a charming, affordable getaway? Look no further than Savannah, Georgia—a city full of history, romance, and adventure, all without breaking the bank. We spent a long weekend exploring Savannah’s cobblestone streets, savoring Southern cuisine, and soaking in its historic charm. While we couldn’t see everything in just a few days, we packed in plenty of unforgettable experiences.

If you’re planning your own Savannah getaway, here’s how to make the most of your trip—without overspending!

How to Get to Savannah & Get Around

We drove to Savannah, which kept our travel costs low. However, if you're flying in, Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport is only a short drive from downtown. Rideshare services like Uber and Lyft are easily available.

Once you arrive in the historic district, there’s no need for a car—Savannah is incredibly walkable. But if you’re planning to visit Tybee Island or other nearby attractions, a rental car could come in handy.

Pro Tip: Street parking in Savannah can get expensive, so consider using public parking garages for more budget-friendly rates.

Where to Stay: Affordable Charm in the Historic District

For a comfortable yet budget-friendly stay, we booked a room at The Gastonian, a charming boutique bed and breakfast located near Forsyth Park. Built in 1868, this beautiful inn combines historic elegance with modern amenities.

Our Favorite Perks:

  • Complimentary made-to-order breakfast each morning
  • Free hors d’oeuvres and wine from 5–6:30 PM
  • Cozy, beautifully decorated rooms

๐Ÿ’ฐ Budget Tip: Savannah offers plenty of affordable boutique hotels and Airbnb options. Book early, especially during peak travel seasons, to secure the best rates.
